My name is Scott W. Gousha owner of Getbackdesigns. The business idea came from my wife and sister in law who over several glasses of wine one night, were trying to figure out a way to start their own business. The idea came up about the St. Christopher medals and how cool it would be to bring them back. That is how the name Getback came about. That and the influence of a very popular song way back when.

After months of listening to them talk about the idea, I finally asked them if they would like some help getting something started and they said sure. So, I proceeded to get in contact with one of the guy's who did the St. Christopher medals back in the 'sixties'. He sent us out some samples and we did a test market in about 12 surf shops in San Diego county. We started with 4 small colors and 3 large colors and merchandised them on a cool wooden surfboard display that we still use today. They flew out of the shops. Today we have over 80 small colors and 50 or so large colors to choose from.

After a few months of being in business and not having anything to show for it, my wife and sister in law decided they wanted to do something else so I decided to give it a go on my own. I figured if they would sell in those 12 shops why not try all the other surf shops in California. Today we are in over 500 surf shops worldwide and have expanded our line considerably with other surf related jewelry.
